Tembele eco-training specialises in offering a wide range of short courses in the natural history field.

 

The following short courses are offered by Tembele Eco-training

Bird courses:

  • Beginners bird identification (2 – 3 days)
  • Practical bird identification (2 – 3 days)
  • Forest birding theory and practical workshop (2 – 3 days)
  • ‘LBJ’ identification (2- 3 days)
  • Raptor Identification (3 – 4 days)
  • Courses covering specific bird families eg waders, swallows and swifts. (2 – 3 days)
  • Bird guiding entry level (4 – 6 days)
  • Advanced bird guiding (4 – 6 days)

 

Botanical courses:

  • Grass identification and basic veld management principles (2 days)
  • Introduction to identifying bushveld trees (2 – 3 days)
  • Advanced practical tree identification (2 – 3 days)
  • Edible plants of the bushveld (2 days)

 

Mammal courses:

  • Introduction to the mammals of Southern Africa (2 – 3days)
  • Advanced mammal studies (3 - 4 days)
  • Mammal behaviour (2 – 3 days)

 

General:

  • Basic astronomy (2 – 3 days)
  • South African frog biology and identification (seasonal – 3 days)
  • Reptiles of South Africa (2 – 3 days)
  • Bush skills 1 – spoor identification (2 days)
  • Bush skills 2 – bush interpretation (2 – 5 days)
  • Butterfly identification practical workshop (2 days)
  • ‘Lords of the stings’ – introduction to insects, arachnids and other arthropods (2 days)
